Katy Georgiadis

Katy Georgiadis portrait

I took accordion lessons as a kid in Montreal (my father loved the instrument) but I put is aside when my family moved back to my parents native Greece. Fast forward 20 or so years I brought it back to the US on a trip home at my mother’s urging. A few years ago during a work hiatus I picked it up again.

I love the versatility of the accordion and am especially fond of french musettes, italian music, Astor Piazzolla and jazz. I am grateful to my teachers: David McAfee, who introduced me to the music of Tony Lovello and Jeremiah McLane for teaching me to play by ear and introducing me to traditional music.

My dad passed away a few years ago but I would like to think that he would be pleased that I am playing!

I am delighted to be included in the RUK orchestra. Many thanks to our maestro David Rukhelman for all the work he puts into the arrangements and his dedication to the orchestra.
