The RUK Orchestra had its first performance on Feb 6. 2017 at Babson College in Wellesley. Since then we have had many other fun and engaging performances.

As one of our members states so well:

The (RUK orchestra) provides the opportunity to play with other players – to listen, interact, and make music that is much greater than any one person can produce. In my opinion, while playing one’s instrument is satisfying in itself, the “rush” of making music with other musicians is unsurpassed. Some of us get to do that in other settings – but the RUK Ensemble has provided an inviting format for the others – and a unique format for all of us because of the accordion focus and the sophisticated repertoire David is developing.

I attended the last concert at Babson College. The orchestra was amazing. The performance of the Bach Fugue was such a joy. A true pleasure to be there.

An orchestra made up just of accordions – what an amazing sight and sound.

I had the pleasure of hearing the performance of this group of dedicated amateurs under the leadership of David Rukhelham who transcribes scores to suit the accordion and who directs the orchestra. As a former orchestra member myself, I got to experience his deep knowledge of composition and orchestral music. For this November concert, he selected pieces from the early 18th century to to the late 20th century. While J.S Bach, W.A.Mozart and F. Chopin are familiar names of the lovers of classical music, the pieces by the Argentinian composer A. Piazzolla and the Russian V. Gavrilin added a new and equally rich vocabulary. David Rukhelman and his players show the versatility of the accordion and succeed in a technically well executed performance that also carries strong emotions. And as a master of the accordion himself, David Rukhelman arranges the various parts so that advanced players get challenged and less experienced players can participate.

If you play the accordion, check out their website and consider joining. Looking forward to the next performance
