Just before the Covid pandemic I was fortunate enough to hear some excellent tango bands in Buenos Aires. I returned home and promptly immersed myself in learning the accordion.
Although I have been involved in music for most of my life, the accordion is new to me. I started playing trumpet when I was in elementary school. By the time I was in middle school, with my brother on clarinet and my father on piano we were playing gigs at local parties and the community art shows. I received a master’s degree in music composition from University of Texas in Austin, and have played jazz trumpet with the Little Big Band in Austin. In the Boston area I have played with Jazz Echo and the Nate Aronow Nextet.
More recently, my EdD dissertation at Northeastern University examined the ways in which musical attributes of workplace conversation matter in organizational learning.
Some of my current compositions and accordion covers are viewable on YouTube.
I’m grateful and delighted that David Rukhelman and members of the RUK Accordion Orchestra have welcomed me into the group.
